A New Sort Of Posting

I know I haven’t written much on WordPress lately but I am busy writing a new book and I really don’t have anything I want to say about the new book yet. I’m still working out a lot of the characters and the story, creating maps and gauging distances and times, building a history. It’s a lot of work but not anything I want to share yet.

But I want to keep posting things on WordPress to make sure my audience doesn’t think I’ve given up and stopped writing.

To feed this page with content, I’m going to use another subject I am passionate about and that is music. I listen to a lot of music and most of it is rock and metal.

I had a circle of people a while back assembling lists of their favorite songs and as we each did it, we found it difficult to confine the lists to 100, 200, even 500 songs.

So I compiled a list of my 1000 favorite songs. It is amazing how many songs are still left off of a list of 1000 songs. And how do you assemble a list that includes Bob Marley and Judas Priest? Billy Joel and Iron Maiden? Pink Floyd and Rob Zombie?

I avoided the temptation to include songs that are trendy or historical landmarks. I don’t care what was a monumental song at one time.

I listen to blues and classical music, but I didn’t include much if any simply because this list is about songs that I will actually seek out myself and listen to. I’ll listen to a lot of great songs when they are played but they aren’t songs I will go and seek out myself.

Most of what I like is from the 70s and 80s although there are plenty of songs coming right up until now. I’m not one of those old timers that thinks they don’t make good music anymore. There is still a lot of talent out there producing great music. Every generation has its Mozarts, and I think it’s a shame when people tune out what is happening now.

So let’s get started.

Like I said, this list is all about songs I would seek out for whatever reason to listen to. The first songs on the list are uncommon for me because they are sentimental songs. These aren’t songs that would probably make this list otherwise. They are here because they hold some special meaning for me. Keep that in mind.

And one more thing. After the name of the performer, artist or band, you will see a number/number.
The second number is how many songs by this performer, artist or band are on this list.
The first number is the place in the order the song sits at.
In other words, 1/1 means this is the one and only song by this performer, artist or band.
A 12/12 means there are 12 songs by this performer, artist or band on the list and this is number 12.
A 1/12 would mean it is the best song of the 12 songs by this performer, artist or band on this list.

Once every week I will try to update this list, posting ten more songs.
Hopefully all these videos will work. 🙂
