What’s Next?????

Now that I have completed The Crystal Crux Series, what do I write next?

For the past 7 1/2 years my mind has been pretty focused on these books and it strange moving on from it – or am I?

Nothing is officially in the works yet, but I have begun re-working a prequel I had outlined and did some writing for a few years ago.
In fact, it goes back to when Tancred Fabbro started to lose control of Parthenope because of the curse he believed fell over the city after the executions of the Foolish Six. It leads right up into the night when Tancred and Meliore are assassinated and deals with a different Crystal and Ophis, the black dragon.

Right now, this is most likely the next book.

I have also scratched down some ideas about what happens after the last book, Beautiful. I have some interesting notes but nothing solid yet. If I am feeling right about that, it might take off, but I kind of think it will be a while before I really get into that. I think I want to take a step away from Pero, Anthea, Francis, Rugerius, Sinibaldus and Talento so they will be fresh again.

I also want to revisit Sinibaldus’ past and the short story I wrote called ‘Raid On Chamonix’. I think it would be cool to get into the time when he was King of the Living Pool and led the assault on Chamonix in order to get revenge for his mother/wife Claire. I can draw a lot more on the cult and magic of his people and the power they enjoyed for a spell. I have the short story framework to guide me there, so that is possible.

I also want to get back to the sci-fi story, Tarfane, but I’m not as invested in that field as epic fantasy, so that might be on a back, back burner. There’s a lot I would have to flesh out to get that story really going and I don’t feel encouraged to go there just yet.

So that’s where I am at.

I am working also combining all 5 books of The Crystal Crux Series into one book, but I am going to peddle that final product to agents and publishers and see if I can get the entire story released in a more profitable way than self-publishing. If I keep hitting dead ends, however, I will probably eventually release it as a self-published book, but first I want to give the standard way a try again. I tried with Betrayal and got nowhere and decided to hone my craft with the rest of the series. Now, with the second editions complete, I want to see if I can get into the mainstream even if it is a minor publishing house.
I also want to get some sketches of certain situations in that book if possible.

So, if anyone knows an agent or publishing house interested in fantasy fiction, point them my way! 🙂

I’ll also be working on a screenplay but that is more of a side project, and I know I could probably never squeeze all five books into a single writing like that. I’d have to work out which parts and characters to incorporate. I have a lot to learn in order to write a screenplay, but I’m not opposed to learning.

In the meantime, stay inspired and keep reading!

I’d like your feedback
