End Of February Writing Update 2025

I have some exciting news.
Possibly because of the cold and some snow we have been getting here in Wisconsin, I have spent more time at my laptop (actually my laptop, which I had for nearly 7 years finally died on me. I am currently working on a Chromebook. First time using one of these and so far, I am ok with the experience. It is cost effective so that’s a positive).

The new book is coming along nicely. As I have mentioned before, the entire story is completely worked out. And while I have a lot of tweaking to do at the end, not quite sure how everything will fall together, I have some of the beginning of the book moving into a finishing stage.

The Prologue and first seven chapters are in really good shape. I estimate it is around 18,000 words give or take. But there is a lot more story to write.

I’ve been debating on whether or not I should post a teaser but I think, for now, I will keep most of it in house.
But for those who read my posts on this page, I am going to give you a little something to wet your appetites. Hope you like it and are excited as I am to see the finished project.
I am pretty confident this book will be done by Fall of 2025 and could be released for the holidays!
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read this. Down below you can see a little excerpt that could change some as I edit it more but gives you, the reader, a glimpse of the path the new book will be taking. Until next time – Stay inspired and keep reading!

As they turned down a side path and neared the ruins, Dino ordered the young men in front of him to halt their horses and they obeyed. He listened to the forest and called Francis to his side. Rafaelle turned his steed around and watched their backside. Something was not right.
“Listen,” Dino said to Francis. And Francis listened. The forest was silent.
“You hear that,” Dino added. “Nothing. No stirring. No birds.”
And then they heard some noises unlike any noises either of them had ever heard before. They called the lads with the white flags to get in behind them as they pulled forward, their senses on high alert.
Francis sniffed the air. “Do you smell that, Dino? What is that?”
Dino shook his head. “I don’t know. It is unlike anything I’ve ever smelled in these woods.
“It’s like a burning odor but not that of a campfire. And I don’t see any smoke. They wouldn’t burn anything and give away their position.”
Francis and Dino continued to keep their heads on a swivel as the strange sounds ahead of them grew increasingly louder.
“We need to check it out,” Francis said.
“Send Niccolus and Arrigo back to Capua to report what is happening,” he hesitated, “in case we don’t return.”
