Best Songs Ever 61 – 65

The countdown continues. So many great songs have already been posted. So many great songs yet to come.
All five of these songs are #1 songs by these bands. In other words, their best song only gets into my top 65. This might piss off a few people. Oh well.
Let’s get started.
Be sure to click on the videos to hear the songs.

#65 – Electric Boys – You Spark My Heart – 2018

For the longest time, I only knew one album by Swedish rockers, Electric Boys, and that was their debut album, Funk-O-Metal Carpet Ride, which was released in America in 1990.
Most of the songs I like by them come from that album.
But then, many years later, I started listening to their later albums and found some gems.
You Spark My Heart is off their 6th album, The Ghost Ward Diaries, released in 2018.
It’s just a catchy straightforward rocker that catches me with its hook right from the beginning.
I’ve never seen them live but included ten songs by them in my top 1000. If you want to get a good feel for this band, go listen to that first album.

#65 – You Spark My Heart – 1/10
#142 – Put Your Arms Around Me – 2/10
#275 – Psychedelic Eyes – 3/10
#353 – Dancing On My Own – 4/10
#452 – All Lips N Hips – 5/10
#512 – Rags To Riches – 6/10
#528 – Cheek To Cheek – 7/10
#603 – If I Had A Car – 8/10
#638 – Electrified – 9/10
#752 – Into The Woods – 10/10

#64 – Bigelf – Disappear – 2003

Super haunting song that has a nice blend of high energy rock to make it inviting and unforgettable. And I cannot attest to what the writers of the song meant but it seems to be about the pain of losing someone you cared dearly about, how they disappeared.
I think Bigelf hasn’t gotten as much exposure as they deserve. They have some really interesting albums and although they are still active, they haven’t released a full-length album since 2014.
I have never seen them live and have included 3 songs by them in my top 1000 songs.

#64 – Disappear – 1/3
#204 – Money, It’s Pure Evil – 2/3
#240 – Alien Frequency – 3/3

#63 – Flogging Molly – Requiem For A Dying Song – 2008

It’s still amazes me that the leader of this Celtic punk band, the singer, is Dave King, formerly of Fastway. To this day, I still can’t hear it, and I listen to quite a bit of both Flogging Molly and Fastway. Prayers for Dave King as he went through a health scare last year and is on the road to recovery hoping to perform again.
Requiem For A Dying Song is an upbeat protest song. I play this one as loud as I can in the car when it comes on.
I saw them live once with one of my daughters and had a smashing good time. So much energy. The band really knows how to feed into the excitement of the crowd. If you ever get a chance to see them live, do it. You will have a ball.
I have included 5 Flogging Molly songs in my top 1000 songs.

#63 – Requiem For A Dying Song – 1/5
#730 – To Youth – 2/5
#757 – Whistles The Wind – 3/5
#875 – Float – 4/5
#897 – The Story So Far – 5/5

#62 – My Chemical Romance – Bulletproof Heart – 2010

I know my daughters will be upset with me, but this is high as I can put MCR in my countdown. As much as I love Welcome To The Black Parade, this song is a little bit better to me, making it my favorite MCR song. It’s really difficult choosing between these two songs and it’s difficult to leave this song down here. I can listen to this song over and over. It’s that good.
And I haven’t forgot how they ended one of their shows we saw with this song.
As I mentioned before in early posts, I have seen MCR live several times with my daughters. They really grew on me and seeing them live helped. They really are a good band, on stage as well as their recordings.
In all, there are 11 MCR songs in my top 1000 songs.

#62 – Bulletproof Heart – 1/11
#72 – Welcome To The Black Parade – 2/11
#93 – House of Wolves – 3/11

#857 – To The End – 8/11
#879 – I’m Not Okay – 9/11
#902 – Dead – 10/11
#940 – Cemetery Drive – 11/11

#61 – Harem Scarem – If You – 2002

And now to piss off my best friend as well. LOL
He’s a big melodic rock guy and Harem Scarem is probably his number one band, or at least top three.
I love a lot of Harem Scarem songs. This Canadian band never seemed to get enough notice in the States. They have a lot of great songs.
‘If You’ is a fun, upbeat song about a relationship going wrong and trying to put some distance between you and the other person by doing some not so nice things – and they still aren’t getting the clue.
As much as I tried, this was as high in my countdown as I could put them.
I have seen them live once and included 13 Harem Scarem songs in my top 1000 songs. All 13 songs are actually in my top 600 songs. Like every band l like, there are still more songs I think could have been in the top 1000. Just too much music in the world.
