According to legend, Ares had a daughter who was assaulted by Poseidon’s son, Halirrhothius. Ares tracked down Halirrhothius and killed him upsetting the gods. Halirrhothius was half-mortal so he could be killed.
A trial was held where Ares was led in chains to be judged.
Legend tells us very little else about this case.
It doesn’t tell us about Ares’ daughter, Alcippe.
It doesn’t tell us who placed Ares in chains.
It doesn’t tell us who judged him.
It doesn’t tell us the outcome.
It merely happened, and history moves on.
I decided to dramatize this small moment in Greek mythology with my own interpretation of the trial and the things that led up to it.
Why did Ares agree to be judged?
How did Ares come to be in chains?
Who presided over the trial?
What was the outcome?
How was the matter resolved.
That’s what Ares In Chains is about.
It is a novella. A short and easy read.
For less than the price of a cup of coffee, you can step back in time and myth and walk amongst the gods and fey.
Available in Kindle and Paperback.
Good reading!
