A Place To Write

This is where I spend a great deal of my time, especially on the weekends, hashing out the details of The Crystal Crux series.  We all need a quiet place we can go and focus on our passions in life, as well as our dreams.  Right now, the world inside The Crystal Crux series is a big part of my life.  It is often difficult to step outside of it, live my life, and then climb back in it.  These characters only exists in my head and the myriad notes I’ve made about them.

I was working on a certain character in Book Three tonight and decided to relay something about the way this person smelled, their particular odor.  After I wrote what I wanted to write, I went back over my notes and realized I had written something in this regard about this character back in Book One.  I had to re-read and reestablish my connection with that scene in Book One and then re-edit and apply this information to Book Three.

Do I have to be this precise?

Well, obviously, I, as the author, nearly forgot about this subtle nuance, this innocuous fact.  Would anyone else notice?  Probably not.  But that’s not the issue.

I’m trying to write something as complete and perfect as I can, and these nuances have to matter to me.  At some point, after Book Three is published, I would have discovered that error.  I have no doubt about that.  I would have found it and beat myself up for not discovering it before publishing.

I want The Crystal Crux series to withstand scrutiny.

Yes, it is a fantasy, and there is a great deal of wiggle room when it comes to magic and mystery that I’ll never have to be answerable to.  But there are some things that have to remain consistent and constant throughout.  And the larger and longer the tale becomes, the more details and facts I must recall and apply to the next book.  It is a grueling process that often gives me headaches, especially on the weekends when I can commit to eight, ten, twelve, even fourteen hour sessions.

It is truly a labor of love.

Book Three :  The Crystal Crux – Cold Knight, should be available for purchase by the first week of December 2017.

Be sure to check out the first two books in the series, Betrayal and Blue Grotto.  Recommend it to family, friends and acquaintances.  A self-published authors best form of advertising is word of mouth.  We need your help.  If you enjoy the books we produce, you are our best hope to be noticed and find some measure of success as authors.

There is also a YA edition of the first two books called The First Three days.
