I had some free time, so here is another post. Hope everyone is enjoying the countdown and clicking on the embedded videos and listening to the songs.
Allow me to rehash my system again.
I originally began this as a top 1000 countdown but listing all the songs already posted by certain bands was getting long so I when I reached the top 500, I changed it to a countdown of the top 500. You can still go back and see all the songs listed between 501-1000. For now, we are concentrating on the top 500.
1/1 after the date the song was released means there is only one song by this band in the top 500 and this song is it.
1/2 means this is the best song by this band and there are two songs by them in the top 500. The other song was already posted and will be listed directly below the current selection.
8/12 would mean this band has 12 songs in the top 500 and this is song number 8, or their 8th best song. All the songs that came before it will be listed directly below the selection as 9/12, 10/12, 11/12 & 12/12.
I hope that helps. As you will see with the first song posted here, the Scorpions have 22 songs in my top 500. This song, Humanity, is their 21st best song. The song listed below it, When The Smoke Is Going Down, is their 22nd best song.

I don’t know if people realize how difficult it is to choose songs in a supposed order like this since all of these songs are great in my mind and I can listen to all of them all the time, anytime.
How do you choose between a driving rock song like Rise Against’s ‘Satellite’ and Linkin Park’s ballad, ‘One More Light’? How do you choose between the heavy pounding blues of Led Zeppelin’s ‘When The Levee Breaks’ and the delicate catchiness of Pink Floyd’s ‘Wish You Were Here’?
It’s really all subjective and impossible to do. Much of it is a mood of the moment choice. Anyway, I’m being subjective, and I am picking at straws to differentiate between all this awesomeness.
Here’s a question for you all. How would arrange just the ten songs on today’s list. I listed them below.
