Here we go. Entering the top 60 songs ever according to me. Remember, this is not a list about the greatest songs ever made or ones that shook the charts or changed the course of music.
These are song I like listening to the most. Period.
And I have had to make a lot of very difficult choices, and the choices are getting more and more difficult each time.

Def Leppard is one of my favorite bands but not for the stuff people often associate with them. I’m not a big fan of their 4th album, Hysteria, released in 1987.
I prefer older Def Leppard from their first three albums when they were still part of the NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal).
Mirror Mirror is a powerful guitar driven song that has a lot of energy. It’s a good mix of hard rock and melodic feeling, the lyrics focusing on self-reflection.
I only saw Def Leppard live once but they have 15 songs in my top 1000. There is still one more Def Leppard song on my list to come.

The Scorpions are one of those rare bands that keep producing great songs decade after decade. Formed in 1965, their first album released in 1972, the Scorpions are still producing albums in the 2000s, their latest album, Rock Believer, released in 2022.
‘The Best Is Yet To Come’ is the last song on their 17th album, Sting In The Tail. It was actually written for their 2004 album, Unbreakable, but didn’t make the cut.
The Scorpions often write love songs as blur the line between a personal relationship with someone to the relationship the band feels for their fans and the audience. The Best Is Yet To Come is one of those power ballads that blurs that line as well, how despite all the passing years, the highs and the lows, the connection remains and the best is yet to come.
The song was not released as a single but often played live.
Despite it being a newer song, it climbs up to be my 4th favorite Scorpion’s song. There are still 3 more Scorpion songs to come.

Battle Beast is a Finnish metal band powered by the vocal talents of Noora Louhimo. I fell in love with her voice as soon as I heard it. She is amazing. And the band is super talented. Noora recently left the band to start a solo career, so it will be interesting to see what they do without her.
I like a lot of their songs but Out On The Streets, for me, is the best. Quick. Powerful. Rebellious. I never get tired of listening to this song.
I’ve never seen them live.
I could have chosen more but only 4 songs by Battle Beast made it into my top 1000. Three of the four songs are off the same album, their self-titled 2nd album.
#57 – Out On The Streets – 1/4
#141 – Let It Roar – 2/4
#217 – Into The Heart of Danger – 3/4
#675 – The Band of the Hawk – 4/4
Scorpions being my favorite, Accept are my second favorite German metal band. And like the Scorpions, Accept has been successful for several decades now, being formed back in 1972 with original vocalist Udo Dirkschneider, bassist Peter Baltes, and guitarist Wolf Hoffmann. Their first album wasn’t released until 1979.
Wolf Hoffmann is the only original member.
The current vocalist, American Mark Tornillo, joined in 2009 and appeared on their last six albums. I think he is a perfect fit for the band.
‘No One’s Master’ is a great rock song with lyrics that target a cruel world full of manipulators who try to divide us into classes in order to make themselves rich, and how we need to pushback by refusing to behave like them. “I treat how I want to be treated.”
I have seen Accept live several times but never with Mark as vocalist. I saw them back in the 80s when Udo was still barking out the songs and swinging on wrecking balls. If you know Accept, you’ll understand.
I probably could have picked a lot more songs but only 7 made my top 1000. This is number two. One more Accept song to come.
